It’s always harder to blog when I’m not on my normal schedule. And being that I’m at the Auctioneer’s Conference in Harrisburg, it definitely means I’m not on my regular schedule. I can’t say I mind the schedule change, but it is different to go from the college student who wakes up whenever they please to the professional whom is expected to be in a suit at 7am….it’s a bit rough. “Time is free, but it’s priceless. You can’t
own it, but you can use it. You can’t keep
it, but you can spend it. Once you’ve lost it
you can never get it back.” – Harvey MacKay
Time. It is something that can be for us or against us (or so we would like to think). It seems like we live in a world today that thinks so much about time and so little at the time same. Let me clarify here, we want everything quickly, and we complain that we don’t have enough. We need to reflect on time more than we do probably. We need to take time to “smell the roses” The thing is that if we don’t take time to realize what we have it will be gone before we blink an eye. For anyone that saw that movie Django: Unchained or saw the preview for it, you know that the movie is about slavery. There is a song in the movie called “Freedom” by Anthony Hamilton who I might add is a wonderful singer. Because I am a wee bit obsessed with that movie lately, I burnt it to a CD along with the John Legend song from the movie, “Who Did That to You?” When listening to “Freedom,” though, there are some lyrics that catch my attention:
“I am looking for freedom, looking for freedom
And to find it cost me everything I have” Continue reading “Car rides always get me thinking…”
Happiness- “a state of well-being and contentment” That’s the definition that good old Merriam-Webster gives us. Where do we find this contentment and well-being, though? One might ask this throughout their lifetimes and never really find the answer until it is too late. I’ve heard many things pertaining to happiness and some of them seem so simple, yet in our lives nothing seems to be simple anymore. This quote can really sum up most of my thoughts when it comes to happiness:
“Being happy doesn’t mean that everything is perfect. It means that you’ve decided to look beyond the imperfections.” Continue reading “Another day, another dollar…”
First of all, I am pleased to say that the NHL lockout is over. All order can be restored in Pittsburgh, and we can move onto see great things….hopefully. It’s annoying to me that they even fight over money like that when in all honesty they make more money in one year to play a sport than I’ll ever see in my lifetime probably (though a girl can hope!). I’ve missed hearing about the Penguins though, so it will be a nice addition to the winter. Continue reading “The NHL Lockout among other things..”
So I have decided to blog. This is going to be my 2013 thing….not a resolution, because if it falls miserably down the tubes, I do not want to feel bad about it. Rather, this is an endeavor to work on documenting my life, however exciting or boring it may be. I’m not an English major, so don’t expect miracles here of always nicely flowing sentences with carefully chosen words. This is me. This is my life. Good or bad. 🙂 Continue reading “New year, new outlook”
